“Pursuit of the Golden Lily” is a new novel by R. Emery, inspired by her father's WWII POW diary. Initially documenting the author's journey to return the diary to Thailand where it was written, the Blog now follows her experiences as she self-publishes, launches the novel and reflects on topics woven into the narrative.

The Diary

This is my dad's diary.
Currently it's locked away in a safety deposit box to protect it from disintegrating.  There are fifty-six pages.  The writing is tiny.  It was dangerous to keep anything written down in the POW camps.  He rolled up this small exercise book and hid it in a bamboo pole.
My intention is to lend it to the Thailand-Burma Railway Center in Kanchanaburi.

Countdown!

A rose for my heroine Rose!
Rose Jamieson is the protagonist of my new novel, Pursuit of the Golden Lily!  I've finished the third draft - I'm sure there'll be a couple more but right now.....
It's time to prepare for the journey!
In one hundred days, I will leave for Thailand, accompanied by two amazing fellow travelers, my dear friends:
Carol 'Ruby' Rubin  and Marjorie Ziff-Levine
Stay tuned, it's going to be an exciting journey!
